In mid October 2025, NKTA's board members attended the grand opening of Kitsap County's newest park, Eglon Forest Park located just north of Kingston WA. Kitsap County acquired the ~640-acre forest trust lands from WA's Dept. of Natural Resources in January 2025. In a previous year, NKTA donated funds for local stewards to purchase materials for safety improvements on an existing trail across the property.

This land acquisition has been in the works since 2016 and part of the property has a fish bearing stream that flows out to Rose Point Estuary where the North Kitsap Chapter of the Puget Sound Anglers are planning to install chum salmon egg boxes in a restoration project. Another part of this land (not shown on this map) are the wetland headwaters of a Grovers Creek tributary and a Carpenters Creek tributary. The protection of this land is another critical piece of the puzzle for salmon recovery in Puget Sound and the Salish Sea.
