NKTA Partners with GPC to Build Divide Community Trail

In June 2026, with GPC's approval, guidance and help from local community trail builders, NKTA funded and constructed approx. 3/4-mile of the Divide Community Forest Access Trail from NE Orseth Road to NE Gratitude Way (private drive) using mostly existing logging roads (section highlighted in yellow on GPC's map). NKTA also removed several hundred scotchbroom "trees" along the trail corridor as part of an invasive species removal effort. This is Phase One of NKTA's workplan.
There was one problem... the annual June rainfall never came and the disturbed soils are still in the process of hardening and GPC limited access to the trail for only pendestrian use for safety concerns until the rains come. Well, this has been a dry Summer & Fall and limited access is still being suggested by NKTA and GPC. Access from Orseth Road is still very primitive with no public parking at this time. In November 2026, GPC and Washington Conservation Corp will be spreading an approved seed mix on all of the disturbed areas of the new sections of trail. In late Autumn 2027, NKTA is planning native plant restoration project within the new trail corridor.
PLEASE observe this request of limited access and use. Thank you.
