Construction is progressing at the North Gateway Trailhead in Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park. This project will serve as a primary "gateway" for visitors, improving access to trails & recreational features at the north entry of the 3,500-acre park. This project also provides accessibility for all ages & ability into the park's rugged interior.

This sustainably designed project creates the park's new (& much needed) north-end primary access point from the town of Port Gamble for park visitors and emergency first-responders, including an extension of the paved Sound to Olympics (STO) separated/shared-use trail, 75 parking stalls, a restroom facility and direct access to the adjacent mountain bike ride park.

County's Forestry Plan allows thinning projects to create a future diverse, more natural forest.

The park's north development project in this former tree farm also includes a 2025 Stewardship & Restoration Project in the adjacent forest to create a more diverse native habitat that will enhance your future park experience.

This whole area is designated construction zone so please follow all posted signage & be safe & aware of large vehicles or equipment entering/exiting the site.
